Sector Building Funding

Nonprofits drive change and strengthen communities in ways no other sector can. But their ability to create lasting impact is often limited by barriers such as lack of robust operational systems, reliable financial and human resources, and access to supports like technology and training. Our Sector Building funding seeks to help address these challenges, so nonprofits can thrive.

Resources for Sector Building are limited; as such, funding is available by invitation only. Our team identifies and engages with potential partners directly.

What We Fund

We support initiatives that address underlying structural challenges in the nonprofit sector, including:

  • Capital Pathways
    Work to break down barriers that prevent funding from reaching nonprofits and communities, such as regulatory challenges, complicated requirements, and systems that make access difficult.
  • Policy & Governance
    Projects that advance nonprofit and social finance policy, advocacy, and governance practices, including tools and training to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Legal, Data & Digital Infrastructure
    Open platforms, services, and tools that enhance transparency, accountability, and coordination across the sector.

Recent funding

Funding will contribute to offering front-line community leaders, academics, Indigenous communities, youth, and professionals in Greater Montreal and beyond training in facilitating dialogue for groups in conflict, focused on navigating polarization and anti-racism while building trust and developing empathy. Funding will support journalism, research and convenings that strengthen Canada’s nonprofit sector. Future of Good will report on issues including social finance, reconciliation, climate justice, anti‑racism and EDI, while hosting events such as the Changemaker Wellbeing Summit, AI Academy & Storytelling Studio, DAF Disrupted and the Equitable Funders Peer Gathering
