hua Foundation

Background of the organization

Founded in 2013, hua Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Vancouver that empowers young people and Asian communities to build a more inclusive and equitable future. hua works across ethnic, class, and generational lines to foster community and racial equity, often acting as an incubator for new Asian-led nonprofits.

Project description

In collaboration with Hogan’s Alley Society, hua Foundation is engaging in a two-year project focused on regenerating relationships between the Chinatown and Black communities in Vancouver. The project’s first initiative is a community archival project, which aims to preserve and share the histories of both communities, bringing people together to rewrite history through a lens of shared understanding. This effort will foster dialogue, healing, and future collaborative planning for a more inclusive and united future for Vancouver’s diverse communities. hua will also help design culturally relevant programming, workshops, and anti-racism learning opportunities.
