Harbinger Media Network

Background of the organization 

Founded in 2020, the Harbinger Media Network is an award-winning non-profit media community uncovering news and current events through original and independent explanatory journalism. Harbinger has played a key role in setting up Unrigged, a digital platform created through unprecedented collaboration in the news and information ecosystem to promote access to local news. 

Project description 

Funding will support Harbinger’s efforts to enhance Unrigged’s administrative capacity and sustain its membership model. Unrigged, a digital platform created by Harbinger and other news outlets, seeks to address structural inequities in the news ecosystem by improving access to local journalism and amplifying work led by and for underrepresented communities.
