Background of organization
First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada is a national non-profit organization created to ensure the safety and well-being of First Nations youth and their families through education initiatives, public policy campaigns and providing resources to support communities. Actively engages a network of over 230 First Nations Child and Family Service agencies, members and educators via campaigns such as Bear Witness Day, Have a Heart Day, Shannen’s Dream, and Reconciliation Ambearrister. Thanks to the Caring Society’s services, Jordan’s Principle information has been accessed by over 120,000 people, and as such, Canada has supported over 828,000 products, services and supports under Jordan’s Principle as of February 28, 2021.
Project description
The funding for this project will further advance the work and develop the suite of education resources catered to teachers and educators. It will continue to engage the public and others in reconciliation, including through new avenues; and continue work to ensure equity for First Nations children and families.
