For this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the creativity of partners working to advance gender justice across the country. From civic participation workshops to economic empowerment, each organization is creating pathways for all women to thrive. We are pleased to share these highlights.

Women Transforming Cities: Building Power at the Municipal Level
Many historically marginalized women remain underrepresented in decision-making. Women Transforming Cities (WTC), a Vancouver-based nonprofit, is working to change that. Using an intersectional, equity-centered approach, their 2026 Greater Vancouver municipal election initiative will provide participants with mentorship to speak confidently at council meetings and advocate for issues that matter to them.
Over time, they hope to nurture a growing community of women and gender‑diverse people empowered to step into public life: speaking up at City Hall, joining advisory committees, influencing policy debates, or even running for office.
Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment: Creating Pathways to Financial Confidence
The Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) is working to shift how financial institutions understand and address economic abuse. CCFWE is championing new standards across the financial sector, including their involvement in the establishment of the newly announced federal voluntary Code of Conduct on the Prevention of Economic Abuse and Canada’s first National Strategy to Respond to Economic Abuse.
“These initiatives are about creating more supportive pathways for women and gender‑diverse people as they move toward financial stability and independence,” shares Meseret Haileyesus, Founder & Executive Director
Both of these partners is advancing change in ways that are practical and community‑rooted. On International Women’s Day, we’re grateful to support and highlight their work and impact.
