Yellowhead Institute

Background of the organization

Yellowhead Institute is an Indigenous-led research and education centre based in the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University. The Institute privileges Indigenous philosophy and amplifies Indigenous voices that provide alternatives to settler colonialism in Canada today. Rooted in community networks, Yellowhead offers critical and accessible resources to support the reclamation of Indigenous land and life.

Project description

Funding will enable Yellowhead to convene communities in the North and Prairies to address complex issues such as modern treaty implementation, land management, and resource governance. These convenings will be grounded in insights from Yellowhead’s extensive research database, which provides a rich analysis on Indigenous governance, rights and title, social policy, and economic futures.
