Established in 1969 and part of the Université du Québec system of universities, UQTR is located halfway between Montreal and Quebec city. The university offers some 150 programs to 11,000 students.
This project received funding under Phase I of the University-Based Community Service-Learning Initiative.
The Community Intervention Project teams up students with community organizations. The project is interdisciplinary and covers prevention and promotion in health, the humanization of patient care, school success, family and social integration, cultural development, sustainable and social development and social economy.
Each team of students addresses problems identified by a community group, with the support of a mentor designated by this group, while being supervised by a professor.
These activities make it possible to achieve community goals while developing academic skills related to community service learning and social engagement.
