Background of the organization
Sustainability Ecosystem Initiative is a new collaborative effort at Concordia University. Investors, corporations, policy-making organizations and academia all have an interest in being educated on sustainability issues from financial, marketing, accounting, legal, operations, policy and other perspectives. Sustainability Ecosystem Initiative’s mission is to advance sustainable business practices by providing these stakeholders with progressive education on the subject.
Funding from the Foundation will help cover the operational costs of events which are organized by Sustainability Ecosystem Initiative and designed to bring stakeholders together and educate them on sustainability challenges, thus empowering them to work toward adopting sustainable practices. Event programming includes speakers series, workshops and conferences, which to date have covered topics such as:
- Impact Investment and Measurement
- Green, Social and Sustainability Bonds
- Climate Scenario Analysis
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting and Reporting
- Shareholder Engagement.
These events create opportunities for constructive interactions with multi-sectoral stakeholders, and provide them with the tools and knowledge that will help them implement as well as advance sustainability practices. Sustainability Ecosystem Initiative’s activities began in 2020 and included more than 700 participants from 45 countries.
