Background of the organization

Solid State Community Society is rooted in Surrey, BC and builds worker co‑ops with low‑income, racialized migrant, and refugee communities. 

Project description

Funding will support Solid State to expand refugee‑owned worker co‑ops by adding two staff who will help launch 15–20 new co‑ops and strengthen eight existing ones. By convening co‑ops to share knowledge and pool resources, the project builds long‑term economic resilience and supports a broader cooperative movement rooted in dignity, ownership and community power.
