Pow Wow Pitch

Background of the organization

Pow Wow Pitch was founded by Sunshine Tenasco in 2015 following her appearance on Dragons’ Den, inspired by her lived experience that entrepreneurship is a pathway to self-sufficiency. Rooted in Indigenous values, Pow Wow Pitch has grown into a non-profit and grassroots movement supporting early-stage Indigenous entrepreneurs across Turtle Island. The organization provides culturally relevant resources to empower entrepreneurs, amplify their stories to inspire future generations, and create connections with corporate mentors, capital pathways, and market opportunities, helping build a more inclusive and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Project description

Funding will be used for marketing, outreach and engagement of 800 Indigenous entrepreneurs, as well as for the establishment of 280+ entrepreneur/mentor relationships and the hosting of 9 in-person pitch events in Canada, the goal being to scale Pow Pow Pitch’ low-barrier mentorship and pitch skill development program within urban, rural and remote regions across the country.
