Pacific Legal Education & Outreach Society

Background of the organization

Active since 2005, the Pacific Legal Education & Outreach Society strives to empower artists and non-profits in Canada to access justice efficiently, effectively and equitably. PLEO works to shift the paradigm in how non-profits and artists experience the law, and to identify and fill gaps in legal services and supports for racialized, indigenous, and historically marginalized communities across Canada.

Project description

Funding will support PLEO in partnering with the Ontario Non-Profit Network and Yukon NGO Hub Society to enhance their flagship program, LawForNonProfits (LFNP). LFNP offers Legal Help Guides—a user-friendly, no-cost digital resource addressing common legal compliance issues. The funding will facilitate focus group engagement to tailor these guides to provincial laws and needs, adapt content for easy provincial navigation, and translate resources into French.. Emphasis will be placed on reaching underserved and underrepresented groups, including Indigenous, remote, and rural communities.
