Background
Motivate Canada is a charitable organization that specializes in improving the lives of young people by fostering civic engagement, social entrepreneurship, social inclusion and leadership among youth. Using techniques from sport, physical education and community-driven development, Motivate Canada has a suite of programs targeting a range of youth. One of these is the GEN7 program, which was established in 2005 as a role model program specifically designed for Indigenous youth and the unique challenges they face.
Full Description
This grant will support the enhancement of the GEN7 program in three ways: the development and implementation of a new train-the-trainer approach for youth leadership, infusion of the GEN7 youth training curriculum with examples of Indigenous teachings and practices, and an evaluation methodology that is culturally relevant to Indigenous peoples.
