Background
The Montréal Urban Ecology Centre’s mission is to build and share expertise that will contribute to the creation of sustainable, democratic, livable cities.
For over a decade, the Montreal Urban Ecology Center has been transforming neighbourhoods in Montreal: greening public spaces, promoting active transportation, and engaging residents in public housing projects to create more livable spaces. Its capacity to bring unlikely allies together – municipal officials, environmental activists, urban planners, as well as citizens – has been the hallmark of its success and is in great demand across Quebec.
Full Description
A grant from the Social Innovation Fund will enable the Urban Ecology Centre to develop a strategy and structure to scale nationally, to create appropriate tools in English for national dissemination, and to test a fee for service business model.
A grant will be used to consolidate lessons from the field into tools and translate them into English, to provide support for strategic planning and the testing of a new business model, and to create and implement a communications strategy with the capacity to influence public policy.
