Indigenous Youth Roots

Background of the organization

Indigenous Youth Roots (IYR) is a national Indigenous youth-led organization dedicated to collaborating with communities to offer programs, grants, and opportunities rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing and being. The organization focuses on strengthening and amplifying the voices of Indigenous youth by providing leadership, learning, and meaningful experiences through its programs.

Project description

Funding will enable the development of IYR’s Centre for Indigenous Policy and Research (CIPR), the goal of which is to engage youth 18 to 29 in local and national policy. This includes creating a Northern Policy School with in-person and online programming on policy development, government advocacy, and systems change, featuring workshops and on-the-land components tailored to the needs of Inuit and northern Indigenous communities.
