Fondation Québec Philanthrope

Background of the organization

Launched in 2024 and hosted by the Fondation Québec Philanthrope, Québec Capitale Climat mobilizes regional stakeholders to accelerate climate action in the greater Québec City area. With over 70 participating organizations—including major businesses, health institutions and municipal partners—and support from the City of Québec and Huron Wendake, it convenes diverse actors to build shared climate commitments. It also serves as the official public consultation mechanism for strengthening the city’s climate plan.

Project description

Funding will support three working groups, transport and urban planning, buildings, and climate resilience, to advance regional decarbonization. Québec Capitale Climat will recruit new organizations, extend engagement across rural regions, and provide research, data and policy analysis through consultants. The project includes convenings, an annual summit and leadership development to help stakeholders establish, implement and track greenhouse‑gas reduction commitments, while securing the policies and investments needed to accelerate climate action.
