Background of the organization

The First Nations Fisheries Council of BC (FNFC) is an Indigenous-led, province-wide body mandated under the BC First Nations Fisheries Action Plan to support First Nations in protecting and advancing their Aboriginal Title, Rights and Treaty Rights as they relate to fisheries and aquatic resources. FNFC coordinates across regions, provides policy and technical support, and facilitates information flow — strengthening First Nations’ collective voice and governance on fisheries and aquatic resources.

Project description

Funding will support convening of regional leaders and policy forums to shape fisheries and aquaculture policy. FNFC will develop an Economic Fisheries Action Plan with expert support and collective input, strengthening Indigenous jurisdiction and economic opportunity.
