Engineers Without Borders (EWB)

Background

Founded in 2000, Engineers Without Borders Canada is a community of young social change leaders, entrepreneurs and policy advocates, with 26 university chapters, 7 professional chapters and more than 35,000 members nationwide. In Canada, EWB works with universities to integrate systems thinking and global citizenship in engineering curricula. The Change Lab team consists of EWB, Engineers Canada, Reos Partners, several engineering post-secondary departments and 40 senior leaders representing a cross-section of the Canadian engineering profession.

Project Description

The Change Lab supports the Canadian engineering community in increasing their understanding of their role in stewarding the relationship between technology and society, and optimizing their contributions and activities within this broader context. The Lab enables participants to accelerate and combine change efforts in their own organizations and networks. A grant from the Foundation would support partnership development, particularly with the private sector, foster communication within the Laboratory, within the related network and elsewhere, and facilitate the organization of this initiative.
