Efficiency Canada

Background of the organization 

Founded in 2018, Efficiency Canada is an organization part of Carleton University that advocates for energy efficiency and affordability in buildings. Through research and public policy engagement, Efficiency Canada works to decarbonize existing buildings and reduce energy poverty, a major issue for low-income households in Canada. Efficiency Canada brings together a wide network of trades, utilities, and policy experts to advocate for effective energy efficiency solutions. 

 

Project description 

Funding will help Efficiency Canada increase funding and accessibility for low-income households to energy efficiency programs, including supporting public communications and training local advocacy organizations. The project also aims to build Indigenous leadership and create model energy efficiency projects led by Indigenous organizations to reduce energy poverty and enhance affordability.

This project will address energy poverty through supporting local advocacy and tenant rights organizations for households experiencing energy poverty; it will also encourage women to enter the energy efficiency workforce; and it will partner with Indigenous organizations in the energy efficiency field.
