Background of the organization:
The Foundation is joining a partnership between the City of Montreal, C40 Cities and a group of philanthropic partners to make Montreal the first city in North America to be carbon-neutral. C40 is a global network of large cities addressing climate change by developing and implementing policies and programs that generate measurable reductions in both greenhouse gas emissions and climate risks.
This grant will support the Climate Action Plan for Montreal to become carbon-neutral by 2050. This will include a net-zero carbon building plan, a zero-waste target and a climate action strategy of benefit to all citizens. Activities include modelling, scenario planning, adaptation and mitigation strategies, analyses of existing policies and a phased implementation plan.
