Centre québécois d’éducation aux médias et à l’information (CQÉMI)

Background of the organization

Founded in 2018, CQÉMI helps people become better‑informed citizens by teaching them to recognize and address misinformation. It also strengthens public understanding of journalism and its role in democracy. Through workshops delivered to elementary and high‑school students as well as seniors, CQÉMI has reached nearly 80,000 people across 1,000 institutions in Québec. Its programs build critical thinking, media literacy and confidence navigating today’s complex information environment.

Project description

Funding will contribute to the project… Funding will expand CQÉMI’s Mission Reportage (for youth) and Info ou désinfo? (for seniors) through 200 workshops across Canada. The project grows francophone programming in Québec, New Brunswick, Ontario and Manitoba by training bilingual facilitators and strengthening media partnerships. English‑language expansion will translate training, deliver workshops in select provinces and build partnerships with anglophone media and institutions to help youth and seniors better identify misinformation and scams.
