Canadians for Digital Sovereignty

Background of the organization

Canadians for Digital Sovereignty (C4DS) is a new nonprofit that works to ensure Canada’s digital services and infrastructure are democratically governed. It urges the federal government to prioritize strengthening all key aspects of Canada’s digital sovereignty – including the underlying technical infrastructure, cloud platforms and the digital services Canadians encounter in their everyday lives.

Project description

Funding will help C4DS establish a formal coalition with 3 to 4 active working groups producing policy‑ready ideas on digital sovereignty. They will also advance a national discussion calling for a reset of Canada’s digital policy agenda and build communications channels and a trusted group of experts on digital platforms and Big Tech accountability.
