Background of the organization

The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA), established in 1910, is an independent non-governmental organization focused exclusively on public health, advising decision-makers about public health system reform and guiding initiatives to help safeguard the personal and community health of Canadians. It provides research, evidence and training to public health professionals.


Project description

CPHA will collaborate with Canadian Health Association for Sustainability and Equity (CHASE) to produce research and provide training for health officials to advocate for climate mitigation solutions at the municipal level.

Public health officials will be supported to share evidence of the public health benefits of climate mitigation, and provide recommendations to reduce carbon pollution and address health inequities in key areas such urban planning, zoning, building policies, social housing, food security programs, transportation planning.
