Background of the organization
A program of the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) and supported by the Colour of Poverty/Colour of Change and Chinese Canadian National Council for Social Justice, the Canadian Network for Equity and Racial Justice (CNERJ) works to advance equity, racial justice and human dignity across by facilitating the exchange of information, sharing best practices, and supporting cross-border initiatives among Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Since 2024, it has convened successful roundtables in 14 Canadian cities, engaging grassroots organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders to identify shared priorities and build trust.
Project description
Funding will help the CNERJ move from relationship-building and consultation toward coordinated advocacy and implementation by connecting community partners, researchers, and policy actors into a “network of networks” to align priorities. To do so, they will sustain regional engagement, mobilize their national database, develop shared policy tools, strengthen joint communications, and support priority campaigns emerging from community consultations.
