Background of the organization
Initially established in Nunavut and now operating nationally, Ampere believes that promoting equal access to technology and the development of digital skills in rural, remote and Indigenous communities will build a more connected and equal world. They support community wellbeing through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) learning. They also support a North-to-South knowledge transfer, the development of local solutions, and the need for rural, remote, and Indigenous communities to have a seat where key decisions are being made.
Project description
Funding will help Ampere train high school students across Nunavut in solar energy. The organisation will raise awareness of the climate and financial benefits of solar panels and show how to access government funding for that type of installation. They will facilitate up to 10 paid internships for solar installation on homes in one community. If successful, they will share results in other Nunavut communities, to increase solar installation uptake.
