Background of the organization 

AFOA Canada, founded in 1999, is a non-profit Indigenous organization that supports Indigenous professionals in the fields of management, finance, and governance. With over 1,900 members, AFOA Canada offers programs to enhance leadership skills and financial literacy and has a history of supporting Indigenous youth through community-based workshops, scholarships, and awards. 

 

Project description 

Funding will support the pilot of AFOA Canada’s Indigenous Youth Leadership Certification (IYLC) program for First Nation, Inuit, and Métis youth aged 18-30. This program will provide culturally informed mentorship and certification, helping youth build leadership skills and advance their careers in various fields. The project will also collaborate with Indigenous communities, organizations and stakeholders to ensure it is culturally relevant and meets the needs of Indigenous youth across Canada.
