Background of the organization
Founded in 1975, Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is a women-led immigrant-serving organization dedicated to empowering women to rise out of isolation and build a vibrant and fulfilling life in Canada. They do so through settlement, employment, leadership, and systems change. Their low-barrier trauma-informed programs and services support over 1000 immigrant and refugee women and children each year. PIRS is also deeply embedded in BC’s childcare advocacy infrastructure.
Project description
Funding will support PIRS to build “policy labs” with newcomer women, policymakers, and childcare sector partners to identify persistent barriers to early childhood education (ECE) workforce inclusion and develop policy proposals to improve access to ECE training, credential recognition, bursary eligibility, and other financial supports.
