PLEDJ

Background of the organization

PLEDJ | Canada is a nonprofit social change organization based in Montreal dedicated to building the capacity of global Indigenous and marginalized communities to foster empowerment, sustainable development, and transformative justice. Acting as a blanket organization that establishes collaborations between academic institutions and civil society groups, PLEDJ’s work centers on Mobilizing Global Indigenous Action for Social Justice, a model developed by founder Dr. Amal Elsana Alhjooj. This model integrates our unique Mindset Liberation Approach (MLA), emphasizing the value of Indigenous and local knowledge to counter internalized racism through training, practice, and research.

Project description

Funding will contribute to offering front-line community leaders, academics, Indigenous communities, youth, and professionals in Greater Montreal and beyond training in facilitating dialogue for groups in conflict, focused on navigating polarization and anti-racism while building trust and developing empathy. Subsequent to the training, these leaders will lead and facilitate dialogue groups within and between their wider communities to promote narrative exchange, cross-community reconciliation, and constructive action.
