Background of the organization
Since 2015, Sacred Earth has supported Indigenous communities through work on Just Transition, Indigenous sovereignty, and climate and energy literacy. Recently incorporated as a non‑profit, the organization demonstrates readiness to scale. Sacred Earth fills a critical gap by assisting small First Nations and Métis communities, often overlooked by large infrastructure investments, across BC, Alberta and Ontario, and is currently oversubscribed for its clean energy capacity‑building and community‑driven climate solutions.
Project description
Funding will support Sacred Earth to mentor two Indigenous communities through the full process of implementing community clean energy systems, including training, technical recruitment and fundraising. It will also strengthen capacity in nine additional communities through engagement, workshops and skills development. The project further supports collaboration with values‑aligned partners to elevate Indigenous leadership, uphold Indigenous rights and sovereignty, and expand community‑driven climate and clean energy solutions.
