Sunsetting the Montréal Strategy

Closure of the Montreal Strategy

The McConnell Foundation has been supporting Montreal-based organizations since our founding almost 90 years ago. Five years ago, we launched a Montreal-specific strategy aiming to better structure our support and ensure equity and transparency in our Montreal granting. We have been honoured to partner with community organizations across the city that are doing incredible place-based work.

As the Foundation’s strategy evolves, we have made the decision to sunset the Montreal Strategy. As a result, the Montreal funding portal will not reopen, and the Foundation will no longer support campaigns beyond commitments already made.

We are deeply grateful to all our Montréal partners for our collaborations over the past five years. We are proud to have contributed to work to strengthen entire neighbourhoods and contribute to a more inclusive and resilient city.

$20M

Our Impact Over the Years

Since 2021, the Foundation has invested and committed $20M to Montreal-based organizations through the Montreal Strategy.

What this change means

The Montreal-specific strategy is sunsetting, but our support to Montreal-based organizations will continue. While we will no longer provide support through the Montreal strategy, we will continue to support Montreal-based organizations through our other focus areas.

For current partners, there will be no changes to funding agreements already underway. These will continue as planned.

As we close this chapter, we are deeply appreciative to all our Montreal partners for our partnerships and for the essential work they continue to lead. We are excited to continue to work with Montreal-based organizations in new ways.

Sincerely,

The McConnell Foundation Team
