Launched in 2013, the 4Rs Youth Movement is a youth-led initiative that focuses on connecting indigenous and non-indigenous young people in Canada. The 4Rs are: Respect, Reconciliation, Reciprocity, and Relevance.
The 4Rs Youth Movement was formed as collaboration among national youth-serving organizations, Indigenous organizations, and charitable foundations, including: YMCA Canada, YWCA Canada, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada, Pathways to Education, the Assembly of First Nations, Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, Metis National Council, Metis Nation BC, National Association of Friendship Centres, Native Women’s Association of Canada, Community Foundations of Canada, Inspirit Foundation, and the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation.
A grant from the Foundation will help the 4Rs Youth Movement establish a strong foundation for an enduring national youth reconciliation movement by strengthening its network of partners, building its infrastructure, conducting consultations, and piloting activities and materials.
