Women Transforming Cities

Background of the organization

Women Transforming Cities (WTC) is a nonprofit organization based in Vancouver, Canada that works to educate, promote awareness and take action on issues such as affordable housing, violence against women, leadership, electoral reform, Indigenous women’s priorities, and the environment at the municipal level. WTC works with equity-deserving genders to examine the impact of different public policies on these groups using an equity / intersectional lens that includes sex, race, gender, and income.

Project description

Funding will contribute to the Women Transforming Cities 2026 Greater Vancouver municipal election project, which aims to engage historically marginalized women in developing and advocating for policy demands. WTC will mentor participants to speak and write to councils, advocate for their priority issues, and build long-term power as well as monitoring council activities. The focus is on Vancouver, with potential for future expansion.
