Volunteer Canada

 Background of the organization

Established in 1977, Volunteer Canada is a charity dedicated to advancing volunteerism to foster connection, community, and belonging. With over 1,100 organizational members, Volunteer Canada collaborates with corporate, charity, nonprofit, and educational partners to enhance the quality, quantity, and accessibility of volunteer opportunities. It provides leadership, expertise, and resources to support the public, private, and charitable sectors in volunteerism.

Project description

Contributions will help support the development of the National Volunteer Action Strategy (NVAS) by funding the establishment of a committee. Support will also cover communications, research, and government relations tools necessary to ensure the NVAS achieves its goal of creating a modern, inclusive, and accessible volunteer infrastructure. By focusing on equity, diversity, and inclusion, the NVAS will enhance volunteerism across Canada, responding to recommendations from the 2019 Catalyst for Change: Roadmap to a Stronger Charitable Sector report.
