Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement

Background of the organization

The Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement is an applied-learning network working to reduce and end poverty. Since 2001, they have helped more than one million households rise out of poverty by engaging with 350 municipalities across Canada. 

 

Project Description

Funding will be used to: 

  1. Pilot an action incubator in five communities to prototype strategies for ending working poverty.
  2. Apply incubator lessons and practices to Tamarack’s 350-community cross-Canada network to further reduce poverty. 

Funds will be allocated for local projects and to support staffing and evaluation.

A grant from the Foundation will enable the Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement to further the work of Vibrant Communities Canada by supporting municipal and provincial policy innovation and collaboration related to poverty reduction with a goal of disseminating breakthrough poverty reduction initiatives across Canada.
