First Nations Child & Family Caring Society

Background of the organization

The First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada (the Caring Society) was established in 1998 by First Nations child and family service leaders. It supports First Nations child and family agencies with research, policy development, professional growth, and networking. Caring Society promotes the safety and well-being of First Nations youth and families through education, public policy campaigns, and quality resources, using a reconciliation framework to advance culturally based equity and to support Indigenous children and their families.

Project description

Funding will help Caring Society provide First Nations with information on participating in case proceedings and contributing evidence. It will also enable Caring Society to offer independent, evidence-based policy guidance and technical support at minimal or no cost. The goal is to achieve a favorable final order for First Nations children at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
