Parachute Canada, an amalgamation of four leading injury prevention organizations (Safe Communities Canada, ThinkFirst, Safe Kids Canada and SMARTRISK), is a national leader on the issue of injury prevention. Formed in July 2012, Parachute aims to bring attention to the issue of preventable injury and to help Canadians reduce their risks of injury and enjoy long lives lived to the fullest.
The Foundation’s grant is supporting Parachute Canada to develop a stakeholder map that will help weave disparate groups across the country into a cohesive national network. It will be also used to support Parachute Canada’s work in assessing evidence-based approaches being used around the world and disseminating the most effective ones to Canadian injury prevention groups, with a goal of achieving the lowest injury rate of all OECD nations within the next ten years.
