Background of the organization
The Kitikmeot Heritage Society (KHS), established in 1996, is an Inuit-led cultural organization based in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. KHS focuses on revitalizing intergenerational language and knowledge transmission among the Inuinnait people, serving a region that spans Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. With almost 30 years of experience, KHS promotes Inuinnait values, beliefs, and traditional ways of life through programs and resources.
Project description
Funding will support the transmission of traditional knowledge to the next generations through mentorship and language immersion, and foster cultural resilience.
