Background of the organization
Founded in 1989, Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support to young people in English and French. Kids Help Phone provides youth with mental health resources, crisis support and professional counselling.
Project description
The state of youth mental health is in crisis: one-in-five young people struggle with their mental health. Moreover, Kids Help Phone data demonstrates how young people between the ages of 5 and 13 are particularly vulnerable. KHP will use funds to expand their Counsellor in the Classroom (CITC) program in 750 classrooms reaching approximately 20,000 kids. The CITC helps teachers develop lessons about mental health/wellbeing and services and provides them with training, group calls with a professional counsellor to complement their lessons.
A portion of this funding will also help support the delivery of e-mental health services, including increased outreach to younger kids (5-13yrs).
