Jack.org

Background of the organization

Jack.org is a national Canadian charity focused on empowering young people to transform the mental health landscape in their communities. Established in 2010, Jack.org works to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health and provide youth with the tools, resources, and support needed to address mental health issues. Through initiatives such as Jack Talks, Jack Chapters, and Be There, the organization reaches youth across Canada, fostering education, advocacy, and peer support. These programs aim to build a generation of young leaders who will drive change and promote mental well-being.

Project description

This project will focus on expanding Jack.org’s reach among Black youth by strengthening partnerships with Black-led organizations. These partnerships will provide culturally relevant mental health support to communities that are often excluded from mainstream conversations about mental health. Jack.org will continue collaborating with organizations such as the Jane Finch Community and Family Centre, and the Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute. The project will allocate half of its funding to these Black-led groups, ensuring their voices are central to the initiative. Through this work, Jack.org aims to engage more Black youth in mental health programs and foster long-term partnerships with organizations that serve equity-denied communities.
