Get on the Bus – Small Change Fund

Background of the organization

Small Change Fund provides an easy and effective way for communities across Canada to start right, continue strong and amplify their impact. The Fund helps people and organizations improve the environment, reduce poverty and support reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. It provides expert advice, an award-winning crowdfunding platform, as well as leadership on communications, campaign planning, government relations and fundraising.

Project description

“Get on the Bus” began as a program funded by the Kingston School Board to provide free transit passes and to train Grade 9 students on how to use transit: riding buses with them, teaching safety tips and surveying their transit needs. The program was then expanded to all grades resulting in a significant transit ridership increase. Funding will contribute to developing a business case and presenting the benefits of this project to school boards and city councils and help identify sources of funding and partnerships to offer the program.
